The Jager van het Meer (translation: Hunter of the Lake) is the ghost of a hunter reported to have roamed the Grondelooze Plas[1] in the region of Enschede, Overijssel. In his waking life, the man hunted every Sunday and even holy days in the Aamsveen. As a result his spirit would not leave the swamp until he had drained the entire lake with nothing but a thimble. This impossible task befalls him every night.[2]
