The Gloeiige are flaming ghosts and were especially abbundant in Noord-Brabant. Oftentimes they would act as tormentors, pulling all sorts of pranks to obstruct the commonfolk. Most of these flaming ghosts were human beings once whom had chosen to live dishonest lives. Some had moved borderstones, others had stolen valubles and again others were murderers. As a result they could not find peace in the afterlife and were destined to burn eternally.
